Elaine M (Tisdel)'s Story
I joined the Air Force and served for four years where I was stationed in Colorado and Alaska.. I used the GI Bill to finish my degree and entered the Human Resources field, but it seems my interest in politics caused me to return to that arena again and again until I finally stepped over and started working professionally in politics. I consult on many, mostly local campaigns. I was a Regional Field Director for the Trump campaign, and earlier this year accepted a position as Regional Liaison for the Ohio Secretary of State. I married Bob Herrick in my 40's and we adopted an eight year son.
That same year my mother became ill and moved in with us. My husband's worked caused us to move every 3 to 4 years until finally settling in Ohio where he passed away at the age of 60. Two years later my mother passed away at the ag...Expand for more
e of 97. My two golden retrievers and five acres of property keep me busy. I've had an exciting life, attended the White House Christmas Party in 2004 and am planning on attending one again this year! I've traveled to all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Europe and now I like being home the best.
I've been active in veterans issues, helped start a Veterans Treatment Court at the felony level - it is one of very few courts in the United States. In place four years now, and many lives have been changed. I also founded the Final Salute Society, We attend between 40-60 military funerals at the Dayton VA Cemetery where no one will be attending the service.
The Final Salute performs the service, brings fresh flowers, accepts the folded flag and performs the final salute. In 2014 I was inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame.
